Monica Calu

Monica Calu has a degree in Law and a degree in Economics, 12 years of experience as a jurist, with the area of expertise in commercial contracts (bank loans, mortgages, insurance contracts, sales of goods, etc.).

After she discovered in 2008 unfair terms in her Swiss francs loan, she began a battle against some bank’s unlawful practices in relation to consumers. Since then she is focusing on consumer protection and involved in civic initiatives aimed at protection of rights of financial services users, against over indebtedness and poverty.

She is a consumer representative at IRSG-EIOPA and BSG of EBA.
